You can take part in as many or as few Lifewalks as you wish. Currently walks take place on Mondays (11:30am), Tuesdays (10:00), Wednesday (10:30), Thursdays (10:00), Fridays (10:00) and Sundays (10:30). Walking routes vary between 1.6 – 3 miles long. Locations are throughout the lee valley park.
Purpose
To become part of a team of volunteers who support staff to deliver a walks programme which has health and social benefits
Details of role
Lifewalks is a walking for health scheme which takes place in various walking routes within Lee Valley. Each walk will encourage participants to walk a little faster than usual and all abilities are welcome.
These walks are a great chance to meet new people whilst leading a more active lifestyle. In addition the walks have health and social benefits for the participants.
We are seeking volunteers to support our Lifewalk programme. which we promote as part of our Get Active programme of activities.
Working in a team of volunteers to support staff to deliver an expanded walks programme across open spaces throughout the park.
Leading or supporting walks in Lee Valley Regional Park (training will be given).
Representing Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.
Guiding a group of people on a designated walk being responsible for the health and safety throughout the duration of the walk (training will be given).
First Aid training will be given and you will need to be or happy to become a qualified basic first aider.
Possibly becoming involved in developing walks and making suggestions with staff on the programme of walks.
Personal attributes
Good people skills and ability to include people and make them feel welcome
Enthusiasm for the park, the outdoors and its event programme
Ability to work as part of a team and on your own.
Knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) the park.
A positive and upbeat demeanour with the enthusiasm to interact with a range of visitors including children

General
To carry out tasks in line with the Authority’s policies and procedures including:
The Authority’s Health and Safety Policy
The Authority’s Volunteer Policy
Volunteer induction pack rules and regulations
Undertake induction and training and development consistent with your role
A briefing will take place for each walk and all volunteers will be provided with a rota and walk briefing sheet
