Essential Health and Safety information

The guidance notes for leaders visiting the park contain important information that must be read prior to visiting us (if you have any difficulty accessing this document please contact us on 03000 030 618  for a hard copy).

Opportunities for assessing learner progress

Lee Valley Youth and Schools staff uses numerous techniques to assess student learning. These will facilitate teacher’s assessment of their students’ leaning throughout their session. These include:
  • Questions and answer sessions
  • Enabling students to make predictions and reasoning using knowledge gained during sessions, research and conclude their findings during the visit
  • Role play presentations to each other, teachers and/or the whole group to reiterate key facts learnt
  • Individual learning and decision making
  • Completion of work booklets and sheets
  • Creating designs based on research and presenting ideas and designs in groups
  • Navigating under time limits and obtaining scores during competitions

Information to help you plan a “rubbish free” lunch
We ask all teachers to help us in our aim for waste free lunches. We'd appreciate it if you could discuss creating a waste free lunch with your children/parents. Please click on the link below for ideas to help you.

Self-led park visits

Lee Valley Regional Park stretches 26 miles (42 kms) from Ware in Hertfordshire to the banks of the Thames in East London. It comprises a host of leisure facilities. Activities available range from ice skating through to horse riding cycling and golf as well as a visit to the popular Lee Valley Park Farms.

If you are planning your own trip to the park for your school or youth group and do not want to join one of our programmes be sure to contact us.

There are opportunities for you to arrange your own visit to sites and venue throughout the park, from Middlesex Filter Beds and Walthamstow Marsh in the south, to River Lee Country Park and Rye House Gatehouse in the north.

Please contact us if you would like to run a self-led visit to the park as there are various health and safety and site control measures your group may need to be aware of.  We can also provide advice on the best site for your needs whether for geography, history, art, science or environmental studies. You’ll be making the most of our expert knowledge, getting some free advice and free literature to help you plan your trip! We guarantee a call to us will half the time it will take you to plan your trip.
