The Lee Valley park is a fantastic place for wildlife but some of its inhabitants are easier to find than others. The varied habitats and large expanses of water attract large numbers of bat to the park but as they only come out after dark not many people are around to see them.
Join Lee Valley Regional Park staff and the Essex Bat Group for an evening dedicated to these fascinating nocturnal animals.
The evening will start with an illustrated talk to discover more about bats as well as the threats they face and the great work the bat group is doing to help protect and conserve them throughout Essex. Once it is dark enough we will then head out for a short walk into River Lee Country Park. We will learn how to use bat detectors to find and even identify the different species of bat and will hopefully get a chance to see and hear bats feeding in the wild.
> Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during the evening
> Please wear comfortable, warm clothes as we will be outside for a few hours
> We would advise that this event is suitable for adults and interested children from 8+. All children must be accompanied by an adult
> There are only 25 spaces on this walk, so make sure you book your space early!
> There is ample parking at Lee Valley Park Farm
> Please be advised the walk section of this event may be cancelled if weather conditions are not suitable on the night
