Family Bushcraft and Survival Basics
The great outdoors can be a great way to engage the entire family and how better than to join us for Fathers Day weekend at Almost Wild and learn some basic but highly useful bushcraft and survival skills before taking on a few fun challenges as a family unit.
Over the weekend our specialist instructors will show you how to make an effective, waterproof shelter from the most basic of materials including some useful knots and even how to put up and try a hammock.
Learn how to make a safe fire site before learning a variety of different lighting methods ranging from how to use a mobile phone in an emergency to start your fire, right back in time to the most primitive of methods including fire by friction. You will also learn how to navigate without a compass and how to make dirty water safe to drink.
After all this, you will get the chance to take part in a challenge to see how well your family has learned to work together to thrive in the great outdoors.
You will need to provide all of your own food for the two days. We will provide tea, coffee, water and biscuits
