A Walk in the Park - Bow Creek and East India Dock Basin

This week's walk covers a little known and historic part of the Lee Valley, we will visit the former ironworks, shipyard and coal wharf which is now a real wildlife haven in the urban environment. Bow Creek is a fascinating place to visit any time of year, and one that’s won the prestigious Green Flag Park Award for five years running.

Within sight of Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena, you’ll discover the old East India Dock Basin, now enjoying a new lease of life as an amazing wildlife sanctuary.

The walk will have excellent views over the River Thames and will incorporate a visit to the unique container city at Trinity Boy Wharf. There is a historic lighthouse here and also a small cafe where you can get a drink and light refreshment if you wish.

Back through this major area of development to Canning Town Station to finish the walk you will be amazed at the variety of activity that goes on in this little known part of London.
